“The LORD’S TABLE”

Jude 1:11 “Woe to them! They have traveled the path of Cain; they have rushed headlong into the error of Balaam; they have perished in Korah’s rebellion.”
- What is the “path of Cain?”
Cain’s story is found in Genesis 4. Let’s recall: each of the sons of Adam and Eve brought an offering to the Lord. Cain (being a farmer) brought an offering from his harvest. Abel (being a shepherd) brought an offering from his flocks. God accepted Abel’s offering, but He rejected Cain’s sacrifice.
Many people assume that because Abel brought a blood sacrifice and Cain brought a grain sacrifice, that the difference between the two offerings was sacrificial blood. But the real difference was between faith and unbelief. We see this in Heb 11: 4 “By faith Abel offered to GOD a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, GOD testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks”.After GOD rejected his sacrifice, Cain was very angry, and his countenance fell. He became angry because he knew he was rejected by GOD. In a fit of anger Cain murdered Abel, and then he lied about it to GOD.
Jude says that Cain symbolically represents a way that certain men and women follow in. It is the way of unbelief and empty religion, which leads to jealousy, persecution of the truly godly, and eventually to murderous anger.Yes, shockingly WITHIN the church, there are believers who “worship” GOD in this “attitude and conviction” as professing Christians. Some are faithful followers. Some are church leaders. Some teach Bible studies. They’re not passive, sit-in-the-pew members, but these are active in ministry. But, their religion is just an empty shell. They lack the reality of a genuine walk with God, who looks on the heart. They talk a good line, they put on a good front, but in their motives, their thought lives, and their personal relationships, they are not godly people.
There is a greater curse on the earth for those who “have a form of godliness but denying it’s power thereof from such turn away” 2 Til 3 : 5 it is called vain and empty religion. The way of Cain is the way of dead religion and this form of religion is dangerous than the most destructive chemical composition on earth because it sends people straight to hell!
Don’t fall into this trap of outward profession, but inwardly and towards those that know you, you’re living another way. We wonder why non-believers despise Christians, complaining and calling us hypocrites as followers of CHRIST because of our “two-faced” appearance! Make sure that you’re not one of them!
